Open-air club venue Progress is to expand to three stages and a huge 5000 person capacity for this year’s season.
The club, found just behind the Mancunian Way near Ardwick Green, launched in 2021, specialising in day parties under the name the Progress Centre.
But it ramped up its activity last summer, holding parties nearly every weekend from April through to September, showcasing everything from house and techno to drum & bass and garage.
Over 22,000 people danced though its parties in 2023, with the likes of You&Me, Loose Lips, Meat Free, Full Circle, Kaluki and After School Club curating events.
It saw sets from DJs like Apollonia, Raresh, Dan Ghenacia, Shonky, Dyed Soundorom, Sasha and Dusky, alongside local legends from Aalice to Chimpo, with the parties running from 2pm until 11pm.
For 2024 it will simply be called Progress, with this year’s season once again running from April to September.
But now the venue will span two larger ‘block party’ stages and a smaller stage area, with the total capacity increased too.
Details of this year’s line-up will of events will be revealed in the coming weeks.
“Having the option to operate the site in such a unique way allows us to ensure the venue is catering to the international talent that drives new people to Manchester whilst still creating opportunities for the grassroots brands to flourish and grow,” said the venue’s creative director Oliver Ryder.
“It’s in the name, we intend to make positive cultural progress for the city of Manchester.”
