Bisous Bisous has been giving people their fix of sweet treats since 2014. The business now operates out of two sites within Manchester-proper, one at Deansgate in the centre of the city, and another here in the upmarket and perennially on-trend southern suburb of Chorlton. Both were extensively refurbished in 2024 as company ownership changed, with the addition of a concession out at the Trafford Centre betraying ambitious plans for onward growth within our region and nationally. All of which is thoroughly deserved success, given you’ll struggle to find more indulgent and irresistible patisserie and Viennoiserie anywhere in town.
But more on those selections later. Bisous Bisous, which translates from French to English as ‘kisses’, is arguably most renowned for its extensive macaron selection, handmade by talented artisanal masters. Boxes can be created up to 10 individual macarons, and there are a lot of varieties and flavours to choose from. Vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, salted caramel, lemon, raspberry, strawberry, cappuccino, cherry and mint chocolate: the only thing harder than trying pick how many of each you want is working out which was your favourite when it’s all done. They really are that good.
Beyond those tiny morsels of mouthwatering joy, you’ll also find plenty more in the shape of patisserie and Viennoiserie. Top picks, in terms of the taste and unbelievably ornate presentation, must include the Tart Caramel Chocolat, Entremet Myrtille Citron, Croquant Noisette and Éclair Chocolat, although whatever you opt for is guaranteed to make a seriously indulgent first impression. Whether you can fit any more is another question. Bisous Bisous is also a beloved choice for bespoke celebration cakes and special occasion dessert catering, including weddings. A truly elegant option if you’re after some afternoon decadence, it’s just one of many reasons Beech Road, Chorlton’s iconic high street, is worth the 20 minute tram ride from the city.
