Everyone at Finest likes to keep their ear to the ground. Yet we’re still guessing as to who Bunny is. A group of bars with multiple sites in some of the city centre’s busiest areas for nightlife and good times, Bunny’s Country Club set up shop in 2024. Occupying the former Liquor & Burn location in the Northern Quarter, it’s a self-styled dive bar done in exactly the right way. Stepping inside almost feels as though you’ve left Northern England and the UK completely, and wandered into the kind of boozer you see in American movies. Dark, cosy, and designed to make you forget time.
The US pop culture paraphernalia set the scene properly, wooden flooring, oak barrel tables and bare bricks adding to the charm. But this isn’t all style — there’s plenty of substance, too. Especially when it comes to sour mash and bourbon whiskeys, a real focal point here at Bunny’s Country Club. With well over 30 bottles to go at, you can bet your bottom dollar there’s a lot more happening than Jack and Jim. FEW Rye, Michter’s No.1, Old Forester, Four Roses and Sazerac are just a few examples… from what we can remember. Which at 45% proof, or more, is impressive in itself.
Classic Cocktails range from June Bugs (Malibu, banana liqueur, Midori Lime and pineapple), to Margarita, Manhattan, Daiquiri and Grasshopper. And if you’re really partying hard Shooters include Pickle Back (Jameson and pickle brine), Hulkamaniac (banana sambuca and strawberry liqueur), and the amazing Flaming Dr Pepper — Disaronno and overproof rum. Bunny also has a range of unique signature drinks, with or without pickles involved, from the Buffalo Mary to Big Tooth Brad and Tommy Pickles (gherkin, Ocho Blanco tequila, agave syrup and lime). Of course, there’s loads of beers too, many other spirits, spritz and wine. Other than that, you’ll (thankfully) find plenty to eat here too — great wings, quality burgers with fries and stacks of other sides. It’s also worth noting that live country music artists perform on stage every night from Wednesday to Sunday.
