Unapologetically named, but with the credentials to back it up, Burgerslut is one of many Salford and Manchester patty and bun emporiums vying for the Best Burger In Town crown. So how does it stack up against the competitors? The team claim this isn’t actually a premium fast food joint, but instead should be considered ‘platinum’, utilising the best quality Irish Black Angus beef on the market, free range poultry and gourmet condiments for every menu item. Even the milk is organic.
As for the choice, Burgerslut doesn’t come with the most expansive menu you’ll find in the city, but that speaks to how well they do the things that they do. It’s a less is more approach, and the appropriately-named Slut burgers are the staple here, a mouthwateringly juicy cheeseburger topped with distinctive warm beef bacon jam, each patty cut from high grade brisket and nothing else. Beyond this, you’ll also find the excellent eggcellent burger, which doubles up on the actual burgers and adds an egg, American cheese and house burger sauce.
BBQ bacon smash is another item that lives up to its name, as is the Jamaican jerk (two smashed patties, jerk sauce, seeded brioche, gherkin, caramelised onion and two slices of cheese). Or pick one of two chicken burgers — side chick and hot chick — for a meaty alternative if you’re not in the mood for cow, the latter topped with a homemade hot sauce. Meanwhile, vegetarians can indulge in the veggie, a classic, pared back patty, cheese and salad with burger sauce combination. A kids menu is also available, featuring a smaller burger, nuggets and tenders, and you can also pick up some great buffalo or BBQ wings here, too. Not to mention a range of great milkshakes, including Hershey’s Cookies & Cream, Jammie, Biscoff, and Bueno, to name but a few.
