Chit ‘n’ Chaat is something of an Indian street food institution in Manchester. The catchily-named kitchen has earned a renowned reputation for its informal dining spot on Rusholme’s world famous Curry Mile, with a second site at New Jackson in the city centre only adding to the renown. Opening in winter 2024, Chit ‘n’ Chaat’s Trafford Centre unit introduces a wonderfully authentic menu to one of Manchester’s most iconic leisure and retail destinations. Expect first rate dahi puri, creamy butter chicken curry, crispy amritsari fish fritters and a host of other exotic dishes imported from the subcontinent.
Here for all your mid-shopping spree refreshment needs, Chit ‘n’ Chaat divides its menu on cooking style and ingredients, rather than portion size, speaking to an uncomplicated approach to deliciousness. Veg options include aloo tikka, Punjabi samosas, pav bhaji and okra fries. For non-veg, think keema pav, chicken lollipop, reshmi shicken kebab (grilled minced chicken in spice-infused creamy marinade), tava fish, and lamb chops. Fittingly, chaat gets its own section, featuring aloo tikka chaat, samosa chaat, paani puri, dahi puri, and papri chaat. Then there are the buns and wraps — vada pav, paneer tikka burger, samosa burger, bun kebab, chicken kati roll, and paneer kati roll.
Meanwhile, in the South Indian section you’ll find plain, masala and paneer dosas, mini idli (steamed rice and lentil cakes served with sambar daal and traditional chutneys), and kothu roti – either mixed veg or chicken. Looking for something bigger? Saag, kadai, and makhani curries are also available, as is tadka daal, puri channa and a range of biryanis (chicken, lamb, or jackfruit). Add a selection of sundries including specialist breads such as lacha paratha and tandoori roti, and some incredible homemade condiments, and the table is set for a spectacular feast all the family are guaranteed to enjoy.
