Situated in an intimate unit on bustling Burton Road, one of South Manchester’s most popular thoroughfares for good food and great drinks, stiff competition in the area speaks volumes about why Dish & Spoon has managed to thrive. The ovens and bakers are responsible for all kinds of unforgettable sweet treats, while the coffee machine brews its fair share of incredible cups, for customers to take away.

First and foremost, at Dish & Spoon the team are passionate about cakes, and this is evident in the new bakes constantly being added to the menu, which works on a fortnightly basis, albeit with some staples. Everything here is made 100% from scratch in a 5* hygiene-rated kitchen, and you can taste the difference. Chocolate salted caramel, toasted coconut & lime, raspberry ripple, lemon cheesecake, chocolate orange, and tiramisu give some idea as to what they create, alongside brownies, Pastéis de Nata, sweet and savoury scones, and Bakewell slices. The list could go on, of course, and it’s important to note that vegan and gluten free options are available.

As for drinks, Fire & Flow coffee is served to those after their caffeine fix, a small independent roasters based in southern England with a deserving reputation. A large section of teas are also on offer, alongside soft drinks. Finally, while Dish & Spoon prides itself on the ‘all homemade’ aspect, there are a number of products that have been specially selected from elsewhere, such as sourdough bread from the beloved Trove, and free range eggs from Alderley Edge’s Horseshoe Farm. Oh, and celebration cakes can be made to order for any occasion, either in store or through the bakery’s Instagram page.
