If you’ve spent much time in Brazil the country’s cuisine won’t have passed by unnoticed. Nor will its lush, tropical landscapes. Thousands of miles east, and a few further north, Altrincham’s Jardim Rodizio has been inspired by both, and excels at what it does. Combining dark-wood sophistication — the bar alone whispers ‘refined’ — with beautiful natural details, it’s one of the few places in town you’re able to grab a table in an outdoor-indoor environment, plants cascading from walls, fixtures and fittings, with one area benefiting from a retractable ceiling, making it possible to eat al fresco whatever the season.
All of which explains the ‘Jardim’ bit — the word translates into English as ‘Garden’. Next for the Rodízio. A traditional Brazilian approach to eating, the format is simple and ideal for meat lovers, with halal and kosher catered for, but there are also plenty of excellent vegetarian and vegan alternatives here too if that’s more your thing. For carnivores, expect a constant flow of different cuts brought to your table, with the opportunity to specify how some are cooked. Eat until you’re satisfied, or stuffed to the limit. Spicy South American sausage, pork collar, skirt steak, and chicken thighs are among the highlights, as is the daily butcher’s choice which you should definitely ask your server for details on.
For those after fish and plant-based dishes, Jardim Rodizio makes a route to Italy, with exceptional risotto, arancini, and ravioli on offer, alongside sea bass, salmon, and more. A large range of starters and greens are also available at the salad bar, which you help yourself to. Thirsty? A great selection of South American wines add yet more reasons to visit, with big hitters like Argentinian Malbec and Chilean Merlot sitting on a list alongside rarer choices, such as Brazilian Cabernet Sauvignon and Uruguayan Cabernet Franc.
