Located in Salford’s Colliers Yard, Kallos offers a relaxed blend of Greek café culture and modern wine bar. Founded by Ioanna Antoniou and Ivan Milchev, both with strong backgrounds in hospitality (they met working at 20 Stories), the focus here is on simple, sociable food and drink inspired by regional traditions and served without fuss.

The interior keeps things stripped back and welcoming — whitewashed walls, stone-style flooring, wooden benches, and subtle Mediterranean touches. There’s a small outdoor terrace for when the sun’s out, while inside, the space works just as well for coffee and a quick bite as it does for slower evenings with friends.

Brunch and lunch options include Greek pastries like spanakopita and tiropita, baked eggs, and house-made pitas filled with slow-cooked vegetables, herbs or meats. Coffee comes from Yorkshire-based roasters Dark Woods, and the daytime menu leans casual but well thought-out.

From midday into the evening, things shift toward a short meze-led menu built for sharing. Dishes include lamb shoulder flatbreads with Balkan pepper relish, fried saganaki cheese, filo-baked feta with honey, Dakos salad, and the show-stopping beef cheek stifado with pickled onions. There’s also a rotating selection of quality, superbly-sourced tinned seafood, served with aioli and warm pita — a nod to coastal snacking done well.

Drinks are led by a compact but smart wine list, focused mainly on Greek varietals like Assyrtiko, Xinomavro and Roditis, alongside a few European favourites. Ivan’s background as a sommelier is evident in the choices, though the atmosphere remains unpretentious and easygoing.

Kallos runs on a walk-in basis, with a rhythm that suits everything from casual meetups to longer stays. Whether you’re dropping in for a quick plate and a glass, or spending a few hours over wine and conversation, it’s a calm, confident addition to the neighbourhood.
