Restart Reformer Pilates founder Min Hou is the first Chinese reformer Pilates studio owner in England. She successfully launched the Manchester address in April 2022 and has built a loyal following through her unique and challenging flows, welcoming and encouraging energy, and the results speak for themselves. Proudly female and Asian owned, the multi-cultural team creates a welcoming environment for everyone and is committed to fostering community and nurturing friendships.
To give an idea of the level she’s working at, Min has already gained her teacher training qualification with the YMCA, which means she can now train other reformer Pilates instructors. So far, the training programme has seen 22 people qualify, helping expand this studio from a single site in Cheetham Hill to a second in Circle Square on Oxford Road, in the heart of Manchester city centre, with classes delivered in both Mandarin and English and aimed at all levels of experience.
From newbies wanting to start their fitness journey, to people recovering from injuries, gym regulars looking to improve mobility and form, to runners who may experience joint pain, older people who need to maintain mobility and flexibility, and mums who want to restrengthen their pelvic floor after childbirth. And it’s not just about fitness, according to Min it’s also possible to see your confidence grow and your mind being transformed alongside the body. Experienced, motivating and kind instructors tailor classes to specific needs, and a range of programmes are on offer. These include Restart Foundation, aimed at beginners and all levels above, Restart Tone Up, focused on muscles and strength, the cardio-centred Restart Bounce, and slower paced Restart Stretch & Relax. What’s more, a newbie deal means four classes cost just £60, and these run from 6.30am or 7am on weekdays right through to the late evening, so it’s easy to fit them in around your daily schedule.
