Connor, Daisy, and Elliott couldn’t be clearer about their approach to styling people’s manes if they tried. “We want ToneMCR to be more than just a place for you to get your hair done. That’s why we’re here to put a fresh, exciting spin on the hair salons you’re used to. Expect an inviting space, fun conversations and a vibe where we can all hang out together.” Or, to put that another way, this is anything but your average hairdressers, with a crack team of seven professional stylists offering a variety of services, from trims to more elaborate blonding, bleaching and beyond.

The three founding friends have since been joined by a number of super-talented self-employed colleagues in the form of Amy, Lily, Holli and Kay, who are also on hand. Overall, ToneMCR specialises in colour, cutting and styling, and hair extensions. One look at their impressive Instagram page also proves they excel when dealing with curls. Whether that’s a more gentile surfer-style or bigger waves. In terms of adding new tints, pick from natural hues to louder dyes, whether you want neon stripes to complete the brat-punk look or subtler tincture within your dominant shade.

Plenty of eye-catching work has come out of ToneMCR, then, but perhaps the biggest selling point is the place itself, and the people behind it. Firmly committed to providing a non-judgmental and inclusive atmosphere which “celebrates every part of our LGBTQIA+ community,” it’ll take one appointment, maybe two, for 50 Copperas Street to start feeling like home, hence the amount of repeat loyal custom these guys get. In a city full of great styles and stylists, it takes something very special to really make an impact and this place has definitely done that and then some — for more reasons than the hair alone. Highly recommended.
