Fancy a night on the high seas (well, the high quays)?
New plans for a floating 180-room hotel have been unveiled for the waters at Salford Quays, just by the Lowry Theatre on North Bay.
Hotel innovators The Good Hospitality Group are behind the project, which will also feature a large bar and restaurant that will be open to the public.
If planning goes ahead, the hotel could be open by 2026.
The group also has similar hotels at London’s Royal Docks, Antigua and Guatemala City, and will be working with Salford City Council to offer training programmes within the local community, ‘helping local residents secure long-term employment opportunities’.
The Good Hospitality Group was founded by Marten Dresen in 2013, who said: “We are hugely excited to bring our floating Good Hotel concept to Salford Quays: a thriving tourist and commercial destination.
“We will collaborate with local partners and establish a successful training programme, mirroring the success we have experienced in London where hundreds of trainees have so far completed our Good Training Programme.
“As we prepare to submit our plans, we’re committed to providing meaningful opportunities for residents, helping them secure long-term employment and contributing positively to the community.”
Ahead of submitting a planning application, local residents are being asked to view and comment on the proposals. For more information and to provide feedback, people are invited to visit the dedicated consultation website.
