The innovative and independent house plant specialists, who already have shops in Stockport and Sale, are set to arrive at Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter in mid-October. The shop is to be a six-month popup concept situated on George Street nestled between Jake Shoes and DCM.
The arrival of Plant Shop Manchester signals a fresh new approach for this part of Altrincham Town Centre, as independent enterprises are invited to help reshape the high street in partnership with Bruntwood Works.
Emma Nosurak, owner of Plant Shop Manchester started her business after a trip to Melbourne Australia where she was inspired by the number of nurseries around the city. Her mission was to bring ‘more green’ to Manchester and started out with just 100 mini cacti outside an office. Four years later Emma has a thriving business and has become one of the best-loved greenery brands in the region.
The shop’s premise is to encourage customers to embrace the many virtues of house plants, from mood boosting to air cleansing, and to ‘Choose Green’. To help them do this, Plant Shop Manchester offers more than just houseplants.
For Emma and her team, personalised customer service is central to the concept as staff guide shoppers through the huge range of greenery at the shop offering advice on which plants are best for different rooms around the house, how to look after them and how to re-pot.
They also provide a full re-potting service, and sell everything that a plant lover (novice or experienced) needs to nurture a plant for life. Beautiful ceramic pots sit alongside quality sustainable lifestyle products including vegan hand wash and refillable eco laundry products that reduce plastic waste.
Emma commented: “We’re so excited about opening our first high street Plant Shop! I started out in Altrincham at the market and so opening in the Stamford Quarter, it feels like we’ve come ‘full circle’. Bruntwood Works have been great in helping me get this off the ground. We’ll have lots of plants, pots, gift and accessories at the Alty shop and our welcoming in-house team will be on hand for any advice… we can’t way to get the neighbourhood choosing green!”
The team have made the shop and service fully COVID-19 secure, and as well as the in-store experience they offer click and collect and delivery services.
The Stamford Quarter has already welcomed independent record label Stutter and Twitch to the neighbourhood with an artisan coffee concept, which is now serving up coffee, cakes vinyl and music from their vintage caravan on Stamford Square.
