There’s a new specialist art supplies retailer in town in the shape of Cass Art who have recently launched their new store and Art Space on Manchester’s Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter.
This is the second store in the North West from the independent, art supplies retailer, established by CEO and Founder Mark Cass in 1984, which follows the success of the Liverpool store in 2014.
Store Manager, Adam McWhinnie has returned to Manchester after two years running the Cass Art Liverpool store. He comments: “It’s a real honour to be bringing Cass Art to my home town, and I’m over the moon we’ve been able to introduce a much needed new Art Space into the Northern Quarter. We’re looking forward to showing a huge range of work by Manchester’s artists.”
The Cass Art Space opened on Thursday 27th April with ‘Liam Dickinson: Portrait and the Urban Landscape’ a solo exhibition by artist Liam Dickinson, a finalist on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2017. You have a few days to catch the exhibition before it finishes on the 7th May though so you best be quick!
Since his appearance on the Sky show, Chorley based Liam has gone on to explore the narrative of Manchester cityscapes, which will be on display alongside his heat winning works from the show, and various other pictures.
This is the fifth art space to go into a Cass Art store and is situated downstairs within the store on Oldham Street. Customers and the art community can engage with the space completely free of charge for exhibitions or workshop space – all you need to do is contact the store directly to apply and book it.
CEO and Founder of Cass Art, Mark Cass explains “We know Manchester has an incredibly strong creative community, and it’s incredibly important to us to support local art students and professionals, so including a free exhibition space in our Manchester store was a huge priority.”
Cass Art is located on Oldham St next to Piccadilly Records. You can find more information on https://www.cassart.co.uk/locations/manchester
