Manchester International Festival is delighted to present Manchester’s own WU LYF for an exclusive, one-night-only performance.
This special event will see WU LYF making the road tunnel on Great Bridgewater Street their own. The whole tunnel will be closed to traffic and pedestrians for the band’s first Manchester date of 2011 and their only UK festival appearance this year.
This show is the first time the tunnel has been used for an event. WU LYF’s powerful, distinctive sound – dubbed ‘heavy pop’ – and uncompromising attitude have won them a legion of devoted fans. Formed in 2009, the quartet have quickly gone from playing a 120-capacity monthly residency at the city’s An Outlet venue in 2010 to performing sold out shows across the globe in 2011.
Their debut album will be released this year.
